March 26th -30th

Hello Families,

This week we will be wrapping up a number of assignments and projects, so some homework may vary depending on what gets done in class. Please check your child's agenda to see if they need help with any assignments.

Book response: a disappointing number of students did not have their responses done for this morning. They were asked to bring notes from parents tomorrow showing that the parents are aware that the work was assigned last Tuesday (six nights ago, and therefore the Christmas homework voucher does not apply). The work is to be handed in tomorrow.

Poem response organizer  for the William Carlos Williams Poem "This is just to say" due Friday, when we will discuss the poem in class.

Social Studies Test Thursday: review sheets went home Monday.

Math homework: pages in JUMP math Tuesday through Thursday.

A-Z and Homereading: students should be changing their small book several times a week, and their novel every two weeks or so. Please help your child make time for this important activity.

Science: there is a test that went home last week be signed for Friday of this week.

Music: please encourage your child to practice the recorder pieces for this week (perhaps they can play outside, if the weather permits)

Permission forms: several will be going home this week for activities in April- please check the agenda.

The grade six graduation will take place on Wednesday, June 20th, time to be announced.

There will be a Bake Sale in late April to collect funds to defray the cost of the end of year trip. Details to come.

Have a wonderful week,
Kathy Napier

March 19-23rd

Hello Families,

This first full week back after the break sees a return to the normal levels of homework. Please continue to check your child's work regularly and help him or her practice her reading and math skills. As we move toward the end of the year this practice is very important to their continued success!

Math: JUMP math practice will consist of review of the unit now concluding on Fractions, Decimals, an Percent

Reading Comprehension: due Thursday

Reading response:  A chapter from "Blubber" will be the topic of this week's response. Please make sure your child fills out the outline provided before completing their response as this will help them ensure they include all the necessary elements. This will be found in their red duotang. Also in this duotang are some of their previous responses and a sample response that can give you an idea of what a successful response looks like. Due next Monday, March 26th.

Science: sign the test and complete pages 108-109 for Friday

Music: Practice recorder songs "Old MacDonald" and "A la Claire Fontaine' for next week. Pay attention to the fingering for D.

Read: Many students have not changed their homereading lately. Please help your child establish a set time for reading every day. It is the only way they cam improve.

Have a wonderful week!
